My Favorite Restaurants in Milan

Restaurants for pasta

Zibo

Zibo is a restaurant that specializes in ravioli pasta. (stuffed pasta filled with various ingredients like meat, ricotta cheese, and vegetables)
Many restaurants in Italy really follow their tradition. However, at Zibo, you can enjoy ravioli pasta with a modern twist.

Zibo is recommended by the site “Conosco Un Posto,” which introduces nice restaurants in Milan, and my Italian teacher also recommends it. It is a restaurant loved by local Italians. It is small, and it is like a secret hideaway so it may be full during peak hours at dinner (after 20:00). I recommend going earlier around 19:00. The price is reasonable, ranging from 11€ to 14€.

Trattoria Mibabbo

Here, you can eat delicious pasta. I had a pesto pasta (basilico sauce) which was tasty. Their focaccia that was served before the main dish was also delicious. The price is 10€ for lunch, so it has a good cost performance.
(usually, at restaurants in Italy, you’ll be charged 2€ for a seat and 2€ for water, so lunch for 10€ is very good)

Mare Mosso

Mare Mosso, located in a quiet residential area about a 10 min walk from Porta Romana station, is one of the restaurants loved by the locals.
It is a place to eat delicious seafood pasta. Perfect for anyone looking for a local restaurant that tourists won’t go to.

Un posto a Milano

Un Posto a Milano is one of the famous restaurants that often appears in Milan’s food guidebooks. They use fresh ingredients, and dishes are of high quality. While the atmosphere of this restaurant is casual, so you can go easily. Besides, there is a small garden and a bar where you can enjoy light meals such as panini and cakes, so I also recommend coming here for dessert and aperitivo (Italian happy hour).

Restaurants for meat dishes

Trippa

Trippa, which is located at Porta Romana subway station, is famous for its delicious meat dishes. It’s quite popular, so it is often full of reservations up to a few weeks later. If you go there earlier at around 19:00, you’ll probably be able to have a table without a reservation. It’s so delicious that worth a visit.

Restaurants for Non-Italian food

Nuna Soul Food

Nuna soul food is a fusion bistro where you can enjoy tapas (small plate dishes). I enjoyed about 4 types of tapas with my friends, such as hummus and venison steak. The interior is also elaborate and stylish. It was also appeared on Vogue Italia as the restaurant to check out during Milan Design Week. Cocktails are also delicious! It’s a hidden gem about a 10-minute walk from Porta Romana subway station. Dinner on the weekend is always full of locals. Tapas cost around 10 to 16€ per plate.
